Hitchin Town FC

The Company

Hitchin Town Football Club is a regionalised recognised community football club based in North Hertfordshire, where the first team currently compete in the 8th tier of English football.

The Project

Hitchin Town Football Club approached ShakerMaker to redesign their dated website back in 2017. At the time we produced a clean, modern and responsive visual which became the envy of rival-clubs. The SEO-optimised site, which included eCommerce functionality, receives over 125,000 sessions and 500,000 page views per year.

We’ve since reengaged with Hitchin Town FC to reskin the website with a fresh new look and feel – incorporating the club rebrand project which we also managed over several months. A combination of the two has left the Club in a wonderful position off the field, ready to progress to the next level with vastly increased ticket and merchandise sales.

As well as the website and branding projects, we’ve also support the Club with the dispatch of their email marketing via MailChimp, providing an opportunity to remarket to previous customers for upcoming fixtures or newly released merchandise. The content has been well received by the audience, with the email open-rate averaging 39%, well above the industry average of 19%.

Finally, we also supported with the creation a social media PPC campaigns for an FA Cup fixture in November 2018, their most high-profile match in over 23 years. The campaign gained huge attention and engagement across Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Referrals from these social medias accounted for 63% of the 3,000+ tickets sold, resulting in the club’s highest attendance since 1976.
